What we see in Boise
North End and East End garages
A lot of the older houses here have a detached garage at the back, often reached from the alley. Those doors may be decades old, sometimes with an opener added long after the door went in. Before quoting parts we check whether the door itself is worth saving.
Bench and West Boise ranch homes
Much of the Bench and West Boise was built in the second half of the last century. Plenty of those garages still run an older opener, and some predate the safety sensors near the floor that stop a closing door. Worn springs and tired openers are the usual finds.
Harris Ranch and Southeast Boise
Newer homes around Harris Ranch and Bown Crossing mostly have insulated steel doors with a keypad by the opening. Calls there are more often an opener, keypad or sensor fault than a damaged door.

- My North End garage is detached and old. Is it worth fixing?
- Often it is. If the panels are sound and the tracks are straight, new springs, rollers and cables can give an old door years more use. If the door is cracked, rotting or badly out of square, we price a replacement next to the repair so you can compare.
- Can you rekey a Boise rental between tenants?
- Yes. Rekeying swaps the pins inside each lock so the last tenant's keys stop working, and every door can be set to the same key. It costs far less than new locks. Have the current keys ready if you can.
- I'm locked out of my car in a downtown garage. Can you get to it?
- Yes, as long as we can reach the car. Tell us the garage name and level when you call. Before we open it we ask for something that shows the car is yours.
- My Bench home has an old opener with no sensors. Should I replace it?
- We'd recommend it. Openers without the two sensors near the floor can close on a person, a pet or a car. A new opener comes with them, plus new remotes and a keypad if you want one.
