Master keys, and who should hold what
A master key system lets a manager open everything with one key while each member of staff carries a key that only opens what they need. It is planned on paper first, because the structure decides what happens when a key goes missing later.
Done properly, losing a staff key means rekeying one door rather than the building. Done badly, it means rekeying all of them.
Exit doors, and the part people forget
Commercial exit doors carry obligations an ordinary front door does not. Anything on an exit route has to open from the inside without a key, without special knowledge and in a single motion, which is what panic hardware is for.
