Chain, belt, or wall mount
Chain drives are the workhorse and the cheapest to replace. Belt drives cost a little more and are noticeably quieter, which matters when there is a bedroom over or beside the garage. Wall mount units sit beside the torsion bar and free up the ceiling entirely.
Tell us how you use the garage and what is above it and we will point you at the right one rather than the dearest one.

When the opener is not actually the fault
A good number of opener calls turn out to be something else. Safety sensors knocked out of alignment will stop a door closing and flash a code that looks like a dead unit. A door out of balance will trip the force settings. A worn gear will sound like a motor failure.
We check the door and the sensors before recommending a new opener, because replacing a working unit does not fix a balance problem.

More projects

- The remote stopped working, is the opener dead?
- Often not. It can be the remote battery, a sensor knocked out of line, or the logic board. We check the cheap causes first.
- Belt or chain?
- Belt if the garage sits under or beside a bedroom, chain if noise is not a concern and you want the lower price. Both are reliable when fitted to a balanced door.
- Can you add a keypad or phone control?
- Yes. Exterior keypads and app control can be added to most modern openers, and we will tell you if yours is too old to support it before you buy anything.
- Will a new opener work with my existing door?
- Usually, provided the door itself is sound and balanced. We check that first, because an opener fitted to an unbalanced door will fail early.
